Ode to Lake Lanier 5-25-59 - 4-07-08
Where were you when the last drop fell, when it wouldn’t rain and it was dry as hell.
What did you do to save the day, reduce consumption, put your hose away?
How will you live with the lake gone dry, like the flowers and trees, wither and die.
When will we learn that in Natures plan, waste not, want not should rule the land.
Who shall save us from ourselves, lessons learned hard, hardly dwell.
What shall our legacy be, to leave our children in want and need.
Then when the last drop falls, no one to blame, but blame us all.
